What is Counselling?

The aim of counselling is to enable people to lead richer, more fulfilling and resourceful lives.  It provides support by giving an opportunity to discuss and explore the thoughts and feelings that are often behind mental distress and anguish.

All discussions that take place between yourself and the counsellor are entirely confidential.

Counsellors do not usually give advice but rather facilitate a deeper understanding of your feelings so that in the end you may decide to make changes yourself.

Counselling is beneficial for a wide range of conditions, especially where you might have a sense that talking to someone about your feelings could increase your emotional well-being.

We provide a safe confidential space for these conversations to happen, and  once you have started counselling you will see the same counsellor on the same day and time every week.

What will it cost?

Our aim is that counselling should be available to all irrespective of financial status.

Although we receive support from Bracknell Forest Council, Sandhurst Town Council and St Michael's Church, we rely on donations for the majority of our expenditure. Each session costs us about £40/hour to provide, and we respectfully ask that you consider a contribution of £20 per session. This will be discussed during your assessment and any special circumstances taken into account.

During your first meeting with a counsellor you will hear how the service operates and the commitment expected from you.
