We’re Glad To Welcome You

Become a Friend of Sandhurst Counselling Service

We want to live in a community where everyone is able to cope with distress and has the opportunity to enjoy a fulfilling life.

For the past 35+ years we have been reaching out and providing effective care in restoring individuals, marriages and families from negative behaviours, chronic stress, depression, anxiety, and other social/emotional issues.

Attitudes towards mental health problems are continuing to change for the better, but the majority of people grappling with these issues are quite isolated from individualised help or information, and dependent on the informal support of family, friends or colleagues.

We are inviting the whole community to engage with us to support those struggling with mental health by becoming a ‘Friend of Sandhurst Counselling Service’. The objective of this group is to raise awareness of the service and to raise funds so that Sandhurst Counselling Service can continue to do great work and offer a vital service to the community of Sandhurst.

By becoming a Friend of SCS, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are directly supporting those with mental health needs and securing the future of our services to remain accessible and affordable for the community.

As a friend we will offer you the opportunity to:

  • Take part in our Community Development programme as we learn together about topics like: Mental Health First Aid; Being a Mental Health Carer; Supporting each other at times of crisis, and similar themes.
  • Organise and take part in community fundraising events to raise vital funds for our Support Fund which ensures that those who are most financially stretched can still receive the support they need.
  • Make a one-off or regular donation to help us grow and reach more people to learn the coping skills they need to move on positively with their lives.
  • Receive our Newsletter three times each year, keeping you abreast of local needs and opportunities.

Please contact us and we will be in touch to ensure everyone benefits.

With Grateful Thanks

Grants to support Sandhurst Counselling Service

Sandhurst Counselling Service relies entirely on the generous support of grants and donations from a range of sources, to maintain our year-on-year activity. We do not benefit from a financial endowment.

For the first 35 years of our existence, growing from a simple drop-in centre to the 1500+ session, client centric, counsellor training organisation we have now, we have had strong support from St Michael and All Angels church, and other local organisations. This has been augmented by personal donations and grants from charities further-afield with a specific focus on counselling, the wider geographical area that includes Sandhurst, or on more general community support.

Our Trustees are clear that the cost to our clients of the service we offer must be kept as low as possible, given that many people come to us at a time when they are at their most vulnerable and their lowest ebb.

Yet, each session costs us around £50 to deliver. Full financial details can be found in our annual accounts filed with the Charity Commission.

As we move forward, into a less-certain local funding environment, yet one where our services are in increasing demand, the support of a wider range of individuals and organisations is increasingly important, whilst we also cement longer-term relationships with our most loyal supporters.

If you feel you, or an organisation you know, can support us financially in any way, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
